“ In Oahu, most people probably head to Leonard's for malasadas, but I personally heard that Pipeline is a serious contender and had seen all their praise on Yelp. This said, we came to Pipeline specifically for their malasadas, although they offer a selection of baked goods and ice cream as well. Their individual-sized "cake bombs" looked particularly good! The malasadas here are not filled, but are instead just covered in flavored sugar, which comes in five varieties.... classic, cocoa, coffee, lihing (plum) and their special at the time, cinnamon. For $14.34, we got a box of six with two each of cocoa, coffee and cinnamon. After just a few minutes, an employee brought our box of malasadas out from the kitchen which were clearly made-to-order, as stated on their menu board. They were hot and fluffy and when I picked one up, I could hear the slight crinkle of the exterior. Upon first bite, it was light, soft and the dough had an elasticity where it slightly bounced back into shape. It was literally like biting into a cloud! While the malasada itself was excellent, we all thought the flavored sugar was very subtle. Although we could see fine grounds of coffee, cocoa powder and cinnamon, those flavors barely came through. All the malasadas tasted like a simple sugar donut with just a hint of flavoring. Also, a lot of the sugar didn't cling to the donuts and ended up covering the bottom of the box. The freshness of these malasadas can't be beat, but I can't say I was completely blown away. Nevertheless, I was happy to support this local business. Note: Parking is a little tough as it's located around a residential area with narrow roads. There is some metered parking across the street. ”

“ Pipeline has solidified its status for me as a "must visit" whenever I come to Oahu. Not everything they make is perfect. I found their seasonal gingerbread to be overpowering. But they'd make 3 things that I need when I want to taste vacation. 1) Lilikoi cheesecake bars. They are the epitome of tropical flavor to me. I love them. I can't get enough and yet I never buy enough because others in my traveling party devour them too! 2) Strawberry Guava cake. Another tropical flavor. Great cake. 3) Chocolate chocolate cake. Hey! Not everything can be tropical and it resets your palette for more tropical flavors. ”

“ We were recommended this place by a local who we met on the bus. They are located along the 1L bus line. The malasadas are excellent, I'd put them up there with Leonard's Bakery. He mentioned these malasadas are the only ones he can eat cold and I can see why. Our order was made fresh after we ordered and we took them back to our hotel to eat them since the location doesn't have seating and we didn't have any hand sanitizer. My favorites are the Li Hing and the coffee malasadas. The price was a bit expensive and they also tack on an order processing fee which was $0.50 for my order. ”

“ Chocolate cake is too die for. lol very very good , this is the spot for some sweet treats. Cookies are good too , ice cream is made in house as well. Very good service and nice and clean inside this place. Better hurry to get some of this special treats for the Holiday season. ”

“ I didn't have time to enjoy these treats here on the island - I had to make a quick grab and go before heading to the airport. There's a good assortment of pretty looking pastries and ice cream, and I picked out two cake bombs and some malasadas. They have different sugar flavors for the malasadas, so I asked to have one of each! They do not have malasadas with filling. I was so sad I couldn't try it before flying home, as they were so warm and smelled good. I liked their malasadas better than Leonard's. I don't know why most reviews here do not speak the name as if it's Voldemort - literally everyone already knows it exists and what it is. In fact, if you understand how keywords and search queries work, saying the brand name will actually attract their customers here more than the opposite. The dough itself had more flavor and tasted of better quality. Though we had to reheat the malasadas, they were still great, fluffy, and tasty with the subtle sugar flavors. They were not oily at all. I think the classic sugar was the best, followed by cinnamon, but I think everyone's favorite will just be their individual preference, as I don't typically like things flavored like cocoa, coffee, or lihing (sour and salty plum) anyways. The base of the cake bombs were very soft and moist, a bit crumbly, and surprisingly heavy and dense. The frosting held up well considering they were squished in my personal bag on the plane ride home, and too sweet for my preference. The strawberry guava and lemon flavors were in particular pretty tart as well. They did taste fresh and like they were made with quality ingredients, though. For a premium ingredient dessert shop, I wouldn't mind coming here again to taste well made treats. ”

“ We deviated from our normal malasadas fix and tried Pipeline for the first time. We found street parking right in front. Inside we were the only customers and ordered a couple malasadas to go. Pipeline also served ice cream, cookies and a variety of baked goods. There was a short wait as each got prepped and then covered in our choice of sugar flavors. The malasadas itself were soft and warm. It was really quite good. The coffee and cinnamon sugar flavors were a bit light especially the coffee version. Most of the sugar and coffee collected at the bottom of the bag so we dipped after each bite and got a better coffee flavor kick. We really liked the fresh preparation so we will be back. ”

“ The first time I had pipeline malasadas was a gold belly order a few years ago as a gift. The malasadas were fresh, delicious and unique. So, today on a recent trip in kaimuki we decided to stop over on Sunday afternoon. The store is clean and everything is displayed nicely with all these tempting desserts. It's amazing that even though it was later in the day there was still a line. There are so many offerings besides malasadas. Variety of cookies, shortbread, drinks and ice cream were available for purchase. Service was fast and the girl was very nice. We ordered Oreo cookies, chocolate chip cookies, ube type of dessert with shortbread on the bottom, pumpkin crunch and a cake bomb. Everything was sooo good! I mean how can you not love sugary dessert. Yes...we paid over $30 for everything and felt it was a little pricey but thought..well you need to treat yourself once in while! ”

“ Was craving a malasada!! Was in kaimuki and went to eat some pizza and since they didn't have the pistachio cheesecake I wanted I craved a malasada. The reason I love these malasadas is because they come out piping hot, never under cooked, and filled with the sugar that makes me happy. The place was empty to my surprise but it was mid day. The girls behind the counter were nice and friendly and they had a ton of other things one could buy. When my malasada came out I was so happy and yes, it was damn delicious!!! There aren't tables inside but the inside ambiance is chill and great ac if you're hot while you wait for the malasada to be made. I give them 4 1/2 stars!! ”

“ Their maladadas are good.... But they are so expensive and what's with the processing fee? I asked and was told it's for the equipment... to process my order?... umm isn't that part of the cost of doing business... like rent, personnel and built into the cost? It was an in person cash and carry purchase! Yes, the world is a different place now. These "costs" are being taken out of the business equation and passed on directly to the customer. Oh well... if you like their products, we'll just keep paying the price +.. At least you can eat their malasadas the next day and they are reasonably good They should factor this cost in their cost if goods and price accordingly. If customer like their products, they will still come. For a kaimuki store, I don't get an atmosphere of friendliness. Hope they turn it around. I miss that nice neighborhood feel ”

“ Back after seven years. A lot more offerings, including some delicious looking cookies I didn't get to try. This time I went for the malasada bread pudding. Winners. If I had ate it there, I'd probably have asked for a bit more sauce, Will be back to try those cookies and maybe some pumpkin crunch. ”
